The Novellus commitment to provide our customers with cost effective solutions to their ever increasing needs is only realized through the contribution of each Novellus employee. The commitment could not be realized without superior employee productivity and product quality. Success is predicated on the implementation of innovative and efficient business processes that have earned the company its world-class manufacturing reputation. The total solution could not be provided without the service and support so highly touted by customers in VLSI customer satisfaction surveys. Each employee, whether through support of internal customers (Novellus employees) or in direct support of external customers, is responsible for the company's success in providing customer solutions. And each employee is recognized for continually raising the bar to greater levels of productivity and efficiency.

Customer commitment is achieved through the implementation of the daily business practices of each employee. These business practices are formalized into the procedures and processes that make up the Quality Management System (QMS), a systematic approach to providing customer solutions.

The QMS components are supplied through the interrelated efforts of various departments and functions of the organization. The figure below illustrates how these efforts are coordinated to systematically improve the ability to provide customer solutions. This continual improvement cycle also provides the model for contribution on an individual level.

Our Corrective & Preventive Action Process
Novellus applies a 7 step problem solving methodology, STEPS: Structured Technical Evaluation & Problem Solving, aimed at improving the speed and accuracy of our solutions. STEPS is a phased process closely aligned with LEAN/Six Sigma concepts where each phase has defined deliverables. STEPS also provides a common language and approach to ensure consistent, rigorous problem solving. Finally, STEPS maximizes the knowledge we gain from the problems we solve driving us to be a “Learning Company.”
