The New College Graduate positions are designed to combine real-life experiences with classroom and technical training in process engineering, software engineering, hardware engineering, and field service engineering.

Novellus Internships are primarily in process engineering, software engineering, and hardware engineering, but they are offered in other business capacities as well.

New College Graduate Program Position Descriptions

Process Engineer

Position/Duties
Novellus' Process Development Engineer position is designed to introduce new college graduates to a real-life process-engineering role within the company. The position is designed to fully prepare the process development engineer to solve thin film development and integration challenges in the physical construction of semiconductor devices. Responsibilities include: developing deposition, surface preparation, and planarization processes, troubleshooting process equipment, and optimizing software and hardware to improve process equipment performance. Newly hired engineers are also provided with a six-month training program with specific core classes that are provided in a classroom-style atmosphere.

Following the training the individual emerges with the basic knowledge to be a successful process engineer, either in semiconductor film technology, engineering, design, or new process development. Novellus has an excellent track record of promoting and transferring employees into roles of increasing responsibilities and technical challenge.

Position Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of a BS degree (MS preferred/select Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Other technical degrees are also considered in combination with significant knowledge or experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry. Students must be authorized to work in the US. Novellus Systems sponsors foreign nationals for non-immigration and immigrant visas.

Software Engineer

Position/Duties
Novellus' Software Engineer position is designed to acclimate newly hired software engineers to a software engineering role within the company. The position is designed to fully prepare the software engineer to participate in the basic design, development, and new product launch functions at Novellus. Newly hired engineers are also provided with a six-month training program with specific core classes that are provided in a classroom-style atmosphere.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are bright, motivated, and have excellent communications skills to function as key members of a design team developing the next generation of semiconductor process equipment software. The software engineer will also develop software to provide new functionality and to further enhance equipment system performance. Novellus has an excellent track record of promoting and transferring employees into roles of increasing responsibility and technical challenge.

Position Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of a BS degree (MS preferred/select Ph.D.) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science and possess a good understanding of C, C++, Java, Object Oriented Design Methodology and complex data structures. Familiarity with Machine control or low level device drivers is also desirable. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US. Hardware Engineer

Position/Duties
Novellus' Hardware Engineering position is designed to introduce new college graduates to a real-life hardware design environment within a dynamic, fast-paced organization. The position is designed to fully prepare the hardware engineer to participate in the design, development, and new product launch functions at Novellus. Newly hired engineers are also provided with a six-month training program with specific core classes that are provided in a classroom-style atmosphere.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are bright, motivated, and have excellent communications skills to function as key members of a product development team designing the next generation of semiconductor process equipment. Job duties may also include developing hardware to provide new functionality and to further enhance system performance. Field Service Engineer

Position/Duties
The Field Service Engineer position is designed to acclimate new college graduates to a customer service engineering role. The candidate will be responsible for performing on-site installation, service and repair of complex equipment and systems. Duties will also include: reviewing and approving operational quality of system equipment, instructing customers in the operation and maintenance of Novellus tools, consulting customers on administrative and technical matters, reviewing identifiable factors in analytical and data driven situations, and exercising good judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions.

Newly hired engineers will be provided with a formal ten-month training program that starts with technical and developmental classroom-style training. After training completion, the engineer will be assigned a Field Service Engineer position at one of our various US field office locations. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to gain knowledge as to how our products are designed, tested, manufactured, and supported in the field. Position Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold minimum of BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering disciplines. The candidate should demonstrate excellence in their academic pursuits and display a high degree of enthusiasm, energy, and career interest in the semiconductor industry. Students must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis.

Manufacturing Operations Engineer

Position/Duties
Novellus' Manufacturing Operations Engineering position is designed to introduce new college graduates to a real-life manufacturing environment within a dynamic, fast-paced organization. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance to production personnel regarding operations and maintenance. Newly hired engineers are provided with a six-month training program designed to seed manufacturing-minded individuals into the design, development and manufacturing support functions at Novellus. During the latter part of training, individuals are enrolled in various soft-skills and/or technical classes.

Upon completion of training, the engineer is fitted for an Operations Engineering position, within Manufacturing Engineering, Customer Engineering, or Quality Engineering. Decisions on final position are based on the level of experience / skill-sets acquired during training as well as the individual’s career aspirations. Novellus' Hardware Engineering Internship position is designed to introduce the college student to a real-life hardware-engineering role. The intern will work alongside an experienced hardware engineer on ongoing projects related to basic design and development of hardware to further enhance existing system performance. The goal of the internship is to provide the intern with a learning experience while helping develop the next generation of semiconductor process equipment hardware.

Position/Duties
Novellus' Business Internship position is designed to introduce the college student to a corporate environment within a dynamic, fast paced organization. Interns are fitted for positions within Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Customer Satisfaction, and Marketing. The goal of the internship is to expose the intern with a real-world work experience in preparation for a successful career in business.

Position Qualifications
The ideal candidate must be enrolled in an accredited program, preferably in their Junior/Senior year of undergraduate studies or at anytime during their graduate and post-graduate studies. Candidates must be pursuing a degree in Business (MBA helpful, but not require), Finance, Marketing, Economics, Human Resources, Management of Information Systems, or related fields. All candidates must be authorized to work in the US. Interns are often groomed for hire and are encouraged to pursue careers at Novellus.
